Welcome! I am a board-certified psychiatrist and psychoanalyst with 15 years of experience. I am licensed in Washington State License # MD 60440692. My private practice is located at the Center for Anxiety & Depression on Mercer Island, WA. I offer medication management, psychotherapy, Spravato, and TMS. I treat most mental health conditions for individuals ages 13 and older. I accept health insurance and conduct sessions both virtually or in-person. Please explore my website for more information and email to make an appointment.

Services

I prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications for most mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic symptoms, ADHD, OCD, and eating disorders. I provide advanced psychopharmacology options as well if the basic approaches have not worked.

Medication Management

Spravato

Spravato or Esketamine is the only FDA-approved form of ketamine. Spravato treats depression and suicidal thoughts. Most health insurance companies cover Spravato if you have tried at least 3-4 psychiatric medications with little to no benefit. We provide Spravato under medical monitoring in our office. It can be amazingly helpful for people suffering from depression and the results are often instant. About 69% of patients respond to Spravato and 52% of patients go into remission from their depressive symptoms.

Psychiatric Evaluation

A good, comprehensive diagnostic evaluation can be incredibly helpful. I start by taking time to listen to you, understand your symptoms, and provide a diagnosis. I may order labwork, additional testing, and obtain information from family and other providers if you request that. A second opinion can also be helpful for people who feel stalled in mental health treatment. We tailor the treatment plan according to your specific symptoms and diagnosis.

I provide brief supportive and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Psychoanalytic treatment focuses on understanding unconscious patterns and facilitating growth, which can help relieve symptoms and enhance self-understanding. Brief psychoanalytic psychotherapy generally lasts about 6 months with meetings on a weekly basis.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a newer evidence-based treatment covered by most health insurance companies. Insurance generally covers TMS for people with depression or OCD who have tried at least 3 medications. TMS stimulates the brain in specific regions with a magnetic coil (seen above). This causes brain cells to fire, which then leads to improvement in symptoms. About 60% of patients receive benefit, and 30% achieve total remission of symptoms. Each session lasts about 20 minutes. A course of TMS involves daily sessions (Monday through Friday) for 6 weeks followed by a taper. Results generally last about 6 months to one year. Take this survey to see if TMS is right for you
